The mission of Transition Town Exmouth (TTE) will only be fulfilled with the support of a wide range of affiliated community groups. This document aims to clarify the relationship between TTE and its affiliated groups. Affiliated groups come in all shapes and sizes, but a common feature is that they are independent and individually responsible for their structure, actions, and finances.

What TTE needs to know from your group at the start of affiliation:

  • The name of your group and a brief mission statement (and constitution if this exists) of your group so that the Umbrella can at a meeting determine whether your aims support those of TTE.
  • Details of a main contact person (and at least one backup) in your group.

Please give us regular updates on:

  • Changes of contact person(s), mission, name and/or constitution.
  • News about what the group is doing/planning.

When affiliated, your group can:

  • Send a representative to attend monthly TTE Umbrella group meetings and raise items for the agenda.
  • Ask for assistance in generating “TTE branded” leaflets.
  • Meet with TTE members and other affiliated groups, and place information on the TTE website and forum.
  • Publicise items of news through the TTE newsletter, website and press, subject to space and resources to do this.
  • Receive information and news from other affiliated groups.
  • Take advantage of opportunities to cooperate with other groups affiliated to TTE.

In due course, TTE hopes to be able to provide:

  • Training sessions and practical help with setting up groups, including structure, finance and publicity.

Using the name “ Transition Town Exmouth/TTE”:

If you are an affiliated group, you may on your literature/press releases:

  • Use the TTE logo and state that you are “affiliated to Transition Town Exmouth”.

Funding:

If you think you will want to write to external bodies in an “official capacity” (eg requesting start-up funding explicitly linked to TTE), please consult with the Umbrella, Secretary and/or Treasurer in good time so that any messages and/or requests are properly coordinated.
