Members of Xcycle greeting the Exmouth Flier at Exton during the recent 150th anniversary of the Avocet Rail Line
WE ARE campaigning for and making use of new cycle facilities in Exmouth. Our aim is to see a significant rise in cycle use in the coming years. We are looking for this increase to come not only from leisure cycling but also from everyday use: cycling to work, shopping, and so on.
Cycling is:
* Healthy
* Cheap
* Very low fossil-oil dependency
* Pollution-free
* Sociable
* Fast around-town
To further our aims we want to:
* Count cycles in use
* Provide training for the aspiring cyclist
* Provide maintenance assistance and training
* Lend goods carriers
* Campaign for better facilities in the town
* Hold events that will give cycling a higher profile than hitherto
Our first event was on 27 December 2008, a cycle ride from Orcombe Point to Lympstone Village and back to the Strand. Contact us if you want to get involved. We are in close contact and working with the local cycle campaign group “Cyclepath Exmouth”.
Bike rides
We now meet at intervals for bike rides. Advertised in advance on this site, the bike rides often coincide with a specific local event. Xcycle welcomes suggestions and ideas from other keen cyclists on where to go, when, and for how long.
