Next ride - third Sunday in the month! See below for details.
We are campaigning for and making use of new cycle facilities in
Exmouth, and our aim is to see a significant rise in cycle use in the
coming years. We are looking for this increase to come not only from
leisure cycling but also from every-day use: cycling to work, shopping,
and so on.
Cycling is:
* Healthy
* Cheap
* Very low fossil-oil dependency
* Pollution-free
* Sociable
* Fast around-town
To further our aims we want to:
* Count cycles in use
* Provide training for the aspiring cyclist
* Provide maintenance assistance and training
* Lend goods carriers
* Campaign for better facilities in the town
* Hold events that will give cycling a higher profile than hitherto
Our first event was on 27th December 2008, cycle from Orcombe Point to Lympstone Village and back to the Strand. Contact us if you want to get involved. We are in close contact and working with the local cycle campaign group “Cyclepath Exmouth”.
You can also pick up an excellent TTE high-visibility vest for a mere
£6.50 from Exmouth Cycles on Victoria Road; get one before they are all sold out!
We have decided to hold regular bike rides on the third Sunday of every month, meeting at the leisure centre/swimming pool at 2.30pm. We will decide then and there, depending on numbers and people’s wishes, on where to go and how long to be out for. Hope this suits everyone. Any feedback ,comments or suggestions very welcome. This doesn’t mean we can’t organise the occasional dayride with pub stops, picnics etc.
